Self Reliance New York FCU understands that the security of your personal and account information is important to you. To assist us in offering financial services in a secure manner, we employ a number of controls that are described below. These controls allow us to properly authenticate your identity when you access these services and protect your information as it travels over the Internet between your access device and Self Reliance New York FCU. The financial services we provide on this NetTeller Online Banking system utilize Access Codes (such as your Online Banking Identification Number and Home Banking password - PIN). In addition, every so often you may be prompted to verify your identity through the use of multi factor authentication, which will ask you to answer personal questions that you would have entered in NetTeller during the enrollment process.

Self Reliance New York FCU requires the use of secure browsers to protect you while you access our online services. Secure browsers allow you, the member, to communicate with our NetTeller Online Banking system in a protected session by encrypting information that flows between you and Self Reliance New York FCU. To verify your session is secure, look for https: instead of http: on the URL, and a secure symbol (for example, a closed padlock, key) on the status bar of your browser and the VeriSign Secured symbol located on the lower part of the screen. For greater security when viewing your account information over the Internet, we require that you use a browser with 128-bit encryption.

To provide additional protection, a timeout feature is used on selected portions of our NetTeller Online Banking system. This feature will automatically log you off of your current Online Banking session after an extended period of inactivity on our site. Reestablishing and authenticating your credentials for your online session helps to reduce unauthorized access to your Self Reliance New York FCUaccounts. Self Reliance New York FCU employs a protection mechanism known as a firewall to protect our computer systems and your information. Firewalls can be thought of as a selective barrier that only permits specific types of traffic through to Self Reliance New York FCU systems.

While Self Reliance New York FCU continually provides security control to protect your information, we believe it is extremely important for you, our member, to take responsibility for security too. Following are some ways that you can protect yourself and your accounts:

  • Never share your NetTeller Home Banking password with anyone. REMEMBER, A SRNYFCU REPRESENTATIVE WILL NEVER ASK YOU FOR YOUR PIN OR PASSWORD.
  • We recommend that you change your NetTeller Online Banking password on a regular basis. You should change it immediately if you think that it may have been compromised and contact a Member Service Representative at 212 473-7310 or 1-888-735-3735.
  • Only use the secure email service provided within online services when sending/requesting account/personal information.
  • Consider using a personal firewall to prevent hackers from invading your personal computer, especially if you are using wireless, DSL or Cable Modem to access the Internet.
  • Install virus protection software and scan all downloaded software as well as all diskettes before use. Also, do not accept email attachments from unknown sources.
  • When done with your transactions, always click on the logoff button on the site to exit out of the application. When using a public PC (such as in a library or school), close the browser when you are finished.
